Metravex is a clone of the classic TetraVex edge-matching puzzle game originally found in Windows Entertainment Pack 3.
The game is in review for inclusion in the Apple App Store for iOS, and a version is in development for the Mac App Store.
Metravex is an edge-matching puzzle game. The game board is presented to you as two grids: a source and a target grid. Game tiles are arranged randomly in the source grid. The objective of the game is to arrange the game tiles in the target grid so that adjacent edges of the tiles match.
Game Levels
The game has six difficulty levels (based on the size of the game grid).
- The easiest level (called Trivial) is suitable for children of four up and is a 2x2 grid.
- The Easy level is the game default, and is a 3x3 grid.
- The Medium level is a 4x4 grid, and can be quite challenging.
- The Hard level is a 5x5 grid and is very difficult.
- The Nightmare level is a 6x6 grid and is, well, a nightmare!
All games can be solved! If you're stuck and you want to see how the game would be solved, swipe two fingers from the source tile area to the target tile area and the game will be solved for you. An automatically solved game will not count towards your high scores.
Scoring
Your score is tracked in both the time taken to complete a game and the number of moves taken to complete the board. High scores are saved locally and can also be tracked in Game Center (so you can see how you're doing compared to your friends and other players). Game Center integration is opt-in - you'll have to enable it in settings to track your scores in Game Center.Gameplay
Game moves can be undone with the tap of a toolbar button, but remember that the undo action counts towards your moves, so don't use it when you're chasing a record!A game tile can be dropped on top of another game tile to swap the positions of the tiles. This counts as two moves, as if you'd done the moves manually.
To move all tiles in the target area up, down, left or right you can swipe in the target area with two fingers in the direction you want the tiles to move. This will count as the same number of moves as if you'd shifted the tiles manually.
Enjoy!
You can get Metravex for the iPhone and iPad on the App Store.
